Kate McLean Design

Hello,
My name is Kate. Throughout my career I have alternated between designing, teaching, travelling and studying. In 2011 I completed an MFA in Graphic Design at Edinburgh College of Art with the express goal of teaching Graphic Design at HE level in the UK.

My personal manifesto is about passing on knowledge, sensory perception and freedom. I have two passions; one is for maps, the other is for running. Strangely I have never linked the two. My work on Sensory Maps has its own web space and blog.

I have 10 years of teaching experience, and a PGCE. For the past two summers I taught Graphic Design in Boston, USA at The School of Art & Design at Suffolk University. Download what the students said. I am currently Designer in Residence at Edinburgh University working on new Sensory Maps of Glasgow, Paris and have received funding to develop tactile maps of local tourist attractions for the visually impaired.

Please contact me for design work, creative thinking, sensory map exhibitions or teaching, or simply have a look at my CV. And if you would like to see how my brain works please take a look at my weekly blog.
